A heart was transplanted last night.

As I wait in the hospital, I am learning about what is happening with transplants. Every day I receive a visit from the Cardiologist on the floor for the day and usually with a few additional Doctors, a handful of Fellows (new Docs) and nurses. They tell me how I am doing and any changed to my medication for the day. Well this Saturday during rounds, I learned that Friday sometime there was a heart transplant. The recipient was a smaller person and the donors heart was a perfect match. This was not the heart for me. I am glad the Hospital is moving those who are so sick through with new hearts. My turn is coming up soon.

The Blue Angles are moving across the area for the SeaFair Celebration this weekend. If I am lucky I can watch them across the hall way from my room as they position themselves for the next set of maneuvers over the south end of Lake Washington. It is amazing to watch these jets moving over 500 mph just over the city.

  1. Rick,
Gosh, what a place you find yourself. Totally a drag. It is so odd that our bodies can betray us before our minds. Hope and faith is the best thing you have going ... you are demonstrating great strength and courage and I, for one, can learn from this. Keep up a good fight buddy and perhaps our paths will cross someday soon. Will miss seeing you at the reunion. You will be in my thoughts, as well as with others, tonight. Mark French
