For Christmas this year we had Marshall and Lanette, Michael and Andrea and their families (five and ¾ children) with us for four days. Everyone was well. No sniffles or sneezes. We had a great time and enjoyed making a snowman (7 feet plus), sledding, games and toys that came out for the grandchildren. Christmas morning looked like a cyclone ran through the house, which is the way Christmas should be. That evening we had steak and Alaska crab legs for dinner. I am including a photo for the new use for the tread mill. Collin and Elliot always get a few Hot Wheels for Christmas. Michael set up the treadmill with a reverse incline. The hot wheels slide down the incline as the tread mill spins. The speed is adjusted to keep the cars from running off the spinning tread. Anyway, after all the Christmas cooking, fudge, cookies and chocolates, the treadmill will be put back to its intended use; to get Rose and I back in shape.
Christmas Day 2010, marked the 470th day that I have enjoyed life with a transplanted heart. We are still thankful for the selflessness of the donor and his family as I received this heart upon his death. It still is hard to believe all that has occurred to us over the past two years. Today I am gradually winning the battle against the disease that lingers in my bone marrow. Our hope for the New Year is to conquer this sickness and get healthy again. I would also like to return to work to a job that has brought me a lot of satisfaction for close to 20 years. In the immediate future, once my oncologist is pleased with the reduced status of the disease, I will undergo treatments to strengthen my immune system as part of my year check-in post bone marrow transplant. As I find out more on this, I will post the information here on my blog.
Have a Happy New Year!

Sounds like you had a wonderful and fun Christmas. Who would have thought about putting the treadmill to such use!

Hi Rick, What a great family picture. I know you've been through an unimaginable journey, but you are looking great. I hope your wishes come true, and that you can return to a more normal life real soon.
