Nurse Rose

I am taking a moment to add a few lines to Rick's blog. I have been telling people that I am doing things I never imagined I would or could. Never say never! I am now administering saline, Heparin, and yes I am now administering medication to Rick through his Hickman line!!! I am getting closer to that nursing degree I have been working on all year! (-: Certainly a profession I have never considered. I am being stretched a little beyond my comfort zone on this one! Rick is very brave and so far I am successful at doing the things that I need to as I continue to be his caregiver.

I've decided that I will return to Douglas County Public Utility District and continue to work with the wonderful people in Customer Accounting and serve the customers of Douglas County.

I am grateful for being a caregiver to such a perfect patient and continue to learn from his example. Rick is an inspiration to many and I continue to be so proud of his attitude and determination. It is interesting to see people's reactions as we tell them he is preparing for his second transplant after just receiving a heart transplant on 9-11-09. The medical staff at the SCCA are surprised at how well he looks and is doing in such a short time.

We continue to move forward in preparation for transplant. Please continue to pray for us. We feel those prayers and I believe they are making a difference!
