We had not heard the schedule the docs want to put me through until a few days ago. All tests they have been performing show I am doing fine and should be ready for the bone morrow transplant. I will have a Hickman Line put in on Friday plus be given the first of a series of shots to displace my stem cells from the bone marrow (shots also on Saturday and Sunday). On Monday (January 11) the transplant team will spin my blood to harvest stem cells. This could go for three days. Then on Friday (January 15) I get my first treatment to destroy the bad cells in the bone marrow. The following week (January 17-23) I will get back my stem cells to populate the bone marrow. I will feel crummy and loose my hair (big loss). If I handle the treatment fine, I can do this without going to the hospital. It may require admission back to the UW Hospital if thing get too intense. While this is NOT CANCER, my transplant will go very similar to as if I had cancer.
So that is an update on our situation. We will try to keep you informed here with this blog. Keep us in your prayers.
