Monday, Dec 19, Transplant Day 14 and day of discharge for hospital.

Today my neutrophils, including the white blood cell took a huge leap forward. Yesterday they were at 1,700. The criteria for discharge is nutriphils at 50,000. This morning they registered at 137,000! This indicates my immune system is well underway to be fully functional. I still have a long road to complete recovery. The high dose of the chemo likely have destroyed the cells that produce the Amyloid protein. We will find out after the New Year with a bone marrow biopsy how successful everything is. My schedule for the next few weeks will be daily visits to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance clinics for check ups and classes on recovery. The docs are preparing me for discharge today.

The recovery from the this stem cell transplant should be faster and more complete. The last recovery was complicated with trying to push back the lingering amyloid in the bone marrow with several regiments for chemo. I have high hopes for the next twelve months I will have a complete response and recovery. As I should not have any more amyloid deposites in my nervous system or muscles. This is what I hope and pray for. It is a very optimistic goal, but why not?
