This Blog is to keep my friends informed of my journey through both heart and bone marrow replacement procedures. Like the Tin Man, I am seeking a new heart.
Klinge I am sixty two years old and have been healthy my entire life. I was a long distance runner and enjoyed climbing many of the mountains in Washington State. Then in 2007 I began to slow down. It took eight months to receive a correct diagnosis that I had AL Amyloidosis, a bone marrow disease. Because my heart was so compromised, I received a heart transplant in Sep 2009. I have also had two stem cell transplants (Feb 2010 and Dec 2011). The disease still lingers in my bone marrow.
Well today I feel like and look like a patient. The malphalin must be doing its job on my bad cells because it is doing a number on the good ones. A day of rest for me. I have not been out of bed. Tomorrow I get my stem cell back.
Saying a prayer right now for you. God bless you as you continue to fight this. Go team go!! Paul and Karen
