I am working this post from my hospital room. I have recieved my infusion of Melphalan, about a 30 minute process. Now about three hours into destroying my bad cell. I have been sucking on ice to help reduce mouth sores and blisters. I need to do so for six hours. We will see how this works. The last time I was on a lower dose of the chemo and I came through fine. There is a new drug on the horizon, Carfilzomib, that will have hardly any of the nasty affects this drug does. It is still being tested and should be available in a year or so.
I have a great book that is keeping me preoccupied through all of this; "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resiliance and Redemption." The book is a great distraction. I am still in my street cloths while reading. I have not changed into my hospital pajamas. One of the nurses commented that I don't look like a patient. Her partner said, "We will fix that soon" as she was preparing the melphalin.

Wishing you all the best with this treatment hope it is not too bad and that it has the desired effect.I also find that a good book helps pass time when I am in hospital, but I must also have a laptop with me to stop madness setting in and to keep up with my online friends:)
