Remember the song by “Creedence Clearwater Revival” about the guy that is passing through Lodi and has a hard time raising enough money by singing to get out of town? His life is on hold and stuck in this small community. Well I have a notion to rename the UW Hospital Lodi, because just about every time I get close to it, I get admitted back in and stuck there for something. The most current issue (admitted on April 21) is my balance. The cardiology folks thought the fix could be a simple increase of fluid intake. When it did not respond as they hoped, they called in specialists from neurology. They were not satisfied with not having the solution after two days. I am now being approached from neurology, endocrinology and hematology. The neurology folks ordered an MRI of my head to see if they can determine any reason in my head for the light-headiness. The results showed no concerns (opposed to nothing there). They have identified a slight issue with the right side of my face. Apparently I smile crooked now and raise my eyebrows at different elevations. Then the specialists from hematology were concerned with my low white blood count. White blood cells are important for fighting off infections. This becomes a concern as I remain immune suppressed. There thinking is one of the other drugs I am on is having a reaction with the production of these cells. I will be getting out of here with a new medication to increase the production of white blood cells. There is talk among the doctors they will release me tomorrow after 7 days back here. The stays at the hospital are getting very old. With time a reduction in the medications I am on will probably improve my overall health.
